Pension, health insurance, unemployment insurance, industrial disaster insurance
Pension (국민연금)
Pension must be paid. National pension rate is 9% of worker's paycheck.
Employer should clearly state in the contract how pension will be paid, They will take 50%(4.5% of workers' gross salary) from workers' paycheck and match it month to month. Same as worker, employer should pay same amount of worker's portion.
Health insurance (건강보험)
Health insurance must be paid, employer should enroll foreigner as a worker and employee's health insurance should begin within a couple of weeks of being in the company.
* health insurance only covers foreign worker who has acceptable VISA in 'Enforcement decree of the immigration act'.
This year (2023), Health insurance rate is 7.09% ( Worker - 3.545%, Employer - 3.545%)
Unemployment insurance (고용보험)
Principle - NOT paid
Exceptions- Paid (F-2, F-5, C-4, E-5, E-9, H-2, F-4 VISA ,
2023 Unemployment insurance rate is 2.05% (ex: Worker-0.9%, company under 150 workers)
Industrial disaster insurance (산재보험)
Employer must pay industrial disaster insurance in accordance with company's size and type of business.
